Nash County Jail Records Start Here
The Nash County Detention Facility is the local jail for people arrested in Nash County before trial, people serving short local sentences, and people being moved between the jail and courtrooms. The facility is operated by the Nash County Sheriff's Office and is the first official channel for a current local custody check. During the research pass, Nash County's official detention pages did not show a searchable public web roster, current-inmate database, booking report, or mugshot gallery. That makes the direct contact chain more important than it would be in a county with a live roster.
Use the official facility listing for the detention center address and phone. Use the Sheriff's Office page for the general law-enforcement line. If the person has been transferred to state prison or is under state supervision, search NCDAC Offender Public Information instead. NCDAC states that its locator does not include county jail information.
Lookup Steps for Nash County Inmates
A search for a current Nash County inmate should move from local custody to notification, court, state, and federal systems. The order matters. A jail phone call answers whether the person is presently in the local detention facility. eCourts answers whether charges and court dates are filed. NCDAC answers whether the person is in state prison, on probation, on parole, or in historical state correction data.
- Call the Nash County Detention Facility at 252-459-1536 with the full name, date of birth if known, and approximate arrest date.
- If jail staff cannot route the request, call the Sheriff's Office non-emergency line at 252-459-4121.
- Search North Carolina VINE for custody-status notification and release or transfer alerts.
- Use the North Carolina eCourts Portal for court dates, filed charges, and case information after court processing.
- Use NCDAC for sentenced state-prison offenders, probationers, parolees, and the Nash Correctional Institution population.
- Use BOP or ICE only when federal criminal or immigration custody is likely.
Nash County Roster Search Fields
No official Nash County jail roster search form was located, so a true county roster field table cannot be published. The useful field inventory is the set of details to have ready before calling, visiting, checking VINE, or filing a public-records request. These fields reduce false matches and help staff find the correct booking or case.
| Field | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full legal name | Text | Strongly recommended | Use first, middle, last, and known suffixes. |
| Date of birth | Date | Recommended | Important for people with common names. |
| Approximate arrest date | Date or range | Helpful | Supports jail, court, and records-request searches. |
| Arresting agency | Text | Helpful | Useful when the arrest may involve city, county, state, or federal officers. |
| Case, citation, or warrant number | Text | Optional | Best for eCourts, clerk, or warrant-related checks. |
Nash County Booking Record Fields
North Carolina law makes several arrest facts public, but Nash County did not publish a sample jail profile in the researched pages. Treat these fields as request targets or possible official responses, not as guaranteed online columns. For filed court charges, use the court system rather than assuming the jail's arrest allegation is the final charge.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name, sex, and age | Public arrest information under N.C. Gen. Stat. 132-1.4. |
| Alleged violation | The arrest or charge allegation, subject to court-filed updates. |
| Arrest circumstances | Time, place, resistance, weapons, pursuit, and seized-item descriptions when public under state law. |
| Booking number and date | Not located in official online Nash material; ask the jail or records staff. |
| Bond and holds | May require jail, magistrate, court, VINE, NCDAC, BOP, or ICE confirmation. |
| Booking photograph | No official Nash online gallery was found; see the Nash County jail mugshots page for request guidance. |
Nash County Custody Systems Compared
A person who is not found through the local jail may not be missing from public records. The person may have bonded out, been released, moved to state prison, entered federal custody, or not yet appeared in a court index. Nash Correctional Institution sits in Nash County, but it is a state prison. It is searched through NCDAC, not the county detention facility.
| Custody | Where to Look | What It Covers |
|---|---|---|
| Current county jail custody | Nash County Detention Facility phone or in person | Recent arrests, pretrial custody, local sentences, court transport holds. |
| Release or transfer notifications | North Carolina VINE | Custody-status and criminal-case notification where available. |
| Filed criminal case | North Carolina eCourts Portal or clerk public terminal | Case information, court dates, charge status, dispositions. |
| State prison or supervision | NCDAC Offender Public Information | Prison offenders, probationers, parolees, and historical state data. |
| Federal or immigration custody | BOP or ICE locator | Federal inmates or adult immigration detainees. |

Nash County Booking and Intake
After an arrest in Nash County, a person who must be held in secure custody is usually taken to the Nash County Detention Facility. Jail staff record identity, alleged offenses, property, fingerprints, custody status, and intake information. Booking photography is a normal jail process, but Nash County did not publish a current online booking-photo policy or roster profile in the sources inspected.
First appearance and release conditions follow through the North Carolina court process. A magistrate or judge may set a written promise, unsecured bond, secured bond, custody release, or no-bond condition depending on the case. A local bond does not override another county warrant, probation or parole matter, state sentence, federal hold, or ICE detainer. Check court records after booking through the Nash County court records after jail arrest page when the question is about filed charges.
Nash County Inmate Visitation
Nash County uses video visitation through iWebVisit for public visits. The official county visitation page says each eligible inmate may have up to six 15-minute intervals per day at $4.50 per interval. Visitors need a current computer or mobile device, a strong internet connection, and behavior that matches in-person jail standards. Standard visits are never private and can be ended for policy violations.

Nash County Inmate Mail
Nash County's mail process is specific. Since December 1, 2022, non-legal mail is not accepted at the detention center. It must be sent to the Greensboro processing address with the inmate name, inmate ID number, and Facility ID Number 5141. Mail that meets requirements is scanned to tablets, and the physical mail is destroyed. Legal mail still goes directly to the detention center and must be marked Legal Mail.
| Mail Type | Address Format | Rule |
|---|---|---|
| Non-legal mail | Nash County Detention Center, Inmate Name and ID, Facility ID Number 5141, PO Box 18247, Greensboro, NC 27419 | Scanned to tablet; originals destroyed. |
| Legal mail | Nash County Detention Center, Inmate Name and ID, 222 W Washington Street, Nashville, NC 27856 | Mark Legal Mail; opened in inmate's presence. |
Nash County Commissary Funds
The county says inmate funds can be deposited through the front lobby kiosk seven days a week, online through InmateCanteen, and through Cash Pay Today walk-in locations. Commissary is through Kimball's Commissary Company. Pay Tel Communications is the inmate communications provider. The inspected Nash County pages did not publish a complete fee schedule for kiosk, online, walk-in, phone, or messaging charges.
Note: Confirm custody with the jail before sending money, scheduling video visits, or mailing non-legal documents.
Nash County Records Request Fallback
No sheriff-specific online jail-record request form was located in the official Nash County pages. A public-records request should cite the North Carolina Public Records Act, identify the person, date, arresting agency, and exact record sought, and ask the Sheriff's Office or detention facility where jail booking requests are processed. For state correction records, use the NCDAC public-records contact path. For court files, use the clerk, public self-service terminal, or Judicial Branch request service.
